Proof of Existence

Last year at the Searchlight Mystery Ranch, we started transforming our well’s run-off pond into a wildlife pond. Though in-person animal sightings have always been rare, our field cameras have been capturing the animals utilizing this pond to survive our worst drought on record. As we’ve watched the suffering of the landscape from lack of water, these pondcam photos have become our proof of the continued existence of our desert neighbors, and a reminder that our actions, big and small, affect their lives.

In the ongoing series Proof of Existence, we have created time-lapse videos out of these rough camera stills, showing the movement of the animals and the passage of time in a remote desert water source.
