Checko Salgado is a photographer, curator, musician and educator based in Las Vegas. As a public lands activist, Checko has utilized his curating skills to help generate a number of art exhibitions that celebrate Nevada’s public lands, including Basin and Range, Home Means Nevada, and Spirit of the Land.

Acoustic Winds, Checko’s video series featuring original music performed at Mystery Ranch and in the Avi Kwa Ame landscape, can be found here.

The cyanotype series below was started in 2021, and focuses on storytelling about the Avi Kwa Ame landscape. Checko made hundreds of transparencies from visuals of plants, animals, text, scenery and maps, then combined them with materials collected on site to produce dozens of original posters and postcards for the Avi Kwa Ame National Monument campaign.
